ODHack 11.0 ๐ŸŽ„

โ€” OnlyDust

Let's end the year in beauty with the last open-source week of 2024!

Mark your calendars for December 12th to continue contributing, collaborating and developing your skills.

This time round we will have a mix of rewarded and non-rewarded issues to give a chance to newcomers to build their profiles!

To participate and see the guidelines, register on our ODHack page over here.

Below, you will find projects that are participating this time round.

For this Christmas edition, we are happy to welcome 2 new ecosystems: Aptos and Fuel!

Let's start by presenting the newcomers!

Fuel

Fuel is an operating system purpose-built for Ethereum rollups, enabling parallel transaction execution and state-minimized applications. Its custom FuelVM incorporates improvements to the Ethereum Virtual Machine, such as support for multiple native assets and enhanced processing capacity. Fuel is powered by Sway, a domain-specific language inspired by Rust. Read more about it here.

They have two repos that will be participating in the ODHack. Contributors will be able to contribute to the Fuel official wallet project and/or to the collection of connectors for the Fuel SDK.

๐Ÿ’ก
If you have a strong front-end expertise in TypeScript, React, and Chrome extensions, you should contribute to their Wallet repo! For Fuel Connectors, Fuel is looking for devs skilled in UI design and crafting robust SDKs (with a focus on software architecture and API integrations).

Aptos

Aptos is a scalable and secure blockchain ecosystem designed for fast, user-friendly decentralized applications. Powered by the Move language and innovative architecture, it enables high performance and low costs, driving diverse use cases and the future of decentralized innovation.

And for this ODHack we are welcoming two Aptos projects!

Art3mis Oracle

Art3mis Oracle is a Web3 AI-powered mystical art platform on Aptos, blending ancient divination practices with modern blockchain. Centered on tarot readings, it expands into a rich spiritual experience with horoscopes, omikuji, and Chinese fortune-telling, enhanced by captivating digital art.

๐Ÿ’ก
This project is looking for frontend builders interested in AI and Gaming. Experience working with animation is a plus.

Dubhe is a community-driven open-source Move Application Creation Engine and Provable Game Engine that provides a comprehensive toolkit for building verifiable Dapps and fully on-chain world/universe-type applications.

๐Ÿ’ก
They are looking for some builders to cover some Aptos examples by dubhe and tutorials.

BSV

BSV is coming back for this edition with a brand new project!

With BSV Blockchain & AI Synergy, the goal is to experiment with creative and impactful solutions, showcasing how BSV blockchain and AI can work together to solve critical problems in areas like data integrity, security, micropayments and beyond.

Alephium

Alephium is back for the edition with 2 repos! As a reminder they are a disruptive L1 blockchain project challenging industry limitations.

Built for scalability, expressivity, security, and true decentralization, their ecosystem is a haven for developers and users seeking a better web3 experience.

Positioned as the leading smart contract-enabled PoW chain, Alephium focus on usability, community-driven growth, and a strong developer experience.

They have two repos that will be participating in the ODHack, one that is a SDK and the other one to create new dApp examples in their contract language, Ralph.

Skilled developers looking for a challenge and learning a new language, check them out.

Stellar

On the Stellar side, we've got awesome returning projects motivated to continue onboarding new contributors as well as a new project being born!

Let's have a look at the new one:

StarShop

StarShop is an open-source project using the Stellar blockchain to create a transparent marketplace for small businesses. Customers receive unique NFTs with each purchase, turning transactions into collectible moments, while businesses earn milestone NFTs to celebrate their achievements. This approach strengthens trust and builds deeper connections between businesses and their customers.

๐Ÿ’ก
They are looking for contributors who are skilled in Frontend and Backend.

And now let's give a shout-out to those that are coming back in this edition! Reminder, Trustless Work did a great post on their work and how they are transforming the potential of open-source. Check out the excerpt below written by Alberto Chavez which was too good to not have it re-posted in this blog post:

Building Trustless Work: Our Journey

At Trustless Work, we believe in the transformative potential of open source. As a platform providing Escrow-as-a-Service (EaaS), we aim to provide secure, transparent transactions across industries. Our vision is simple yet bold: to abstract the complexities of blockchain and empower platforms to integrate trustless escrow solutions into their payment flows.

This campaign marks a special milestone for us. Not only are we participating as a project, but other teams have already begun leveraging our API to build their own solutions. This validation demonstrates the power of collaboration and the impact that open source can have on accelerating innovation.

Spotlight on the Projects

Hereโ€™s a closer look at some of the participating projects:

Revolutionary Farmers

Agriculture meets blockchain with this initiative aimed at empowering farmers and agricultural workers. By integrating the Trustless Work API, Revolutionary Farmers ensures that all parties in agricultural trade are protected and transactions are transparent. The project is building a mobile app that simplifies escrow lifecycles, enabling secure and reliable trade for farmers worldwide. Explore Revolutionary Farmers.

๐Ÿ’ก
They are looking for contributors with the following skills: Next.js, TypeScript, Kotlin.

SafeSwap

SafeSwap is a decentralized marketplace for buying and selling products, SafeSwap integrates the Trustless Work API to create escrow-backed payments. SafeSwap simplifies the user experience, making blockchain-backed security accessible to all.

๐Ÿ’ก
They are looking for frontend developers that are skilled in NextJs & Tailwind.

SafeTrust leverages blockchain and Trustless Work to safeguard deposits and payments, providing transparency and security for every operation. This ensures that users, especially those dealing with cryptocurrency, can trust the system.

๐Ÿ’ก
They are looking for contributors who have knowledge in Frontend, Backend and documentation.

Why Open Source Matters for Stellar

Open source is more than a development philosophyโ€”itโ€™s a force multiplier. It accelerates innovation, fosters collaboration, and builds shared success ecosystems. For Stellar, this means enabling developers to build impactful solutions that serve real-world needs while lowering barriers to entry.

The projects in this campaign demonstrate the breadth of possibilities open source brings to the Stellar ecosystem. By leveraging blockchainโ€™s trustless and decentralized capabilities, these teams are creating tools and platforms that are both scalable and transformative."

Other amazing Stellar projects that are equally participating are the following:
