Meet DevCare: Supporting open-source contributors at OnlyDust
— OnlyDust
At OnlyDust, we believe that open-source development powers innovation, collaboration and shapes the future of technology. Today, we're excited to introduce our Developer Care Program (DevCare) – an initiative created to support and connect open-source developers in our community.
What's DevCare All About?
Think of DevCare as your bridge to opportunities in open source. It's more than just support. Whether you've been contributing for years or are just getting started, we've designed the program to give you the resources, guidance, and connections you need to succeed.
Our vision is simple: we want to make open-source contribution valuable, impactful, and accessible for everyone.
Why Launch This Now?
While open source has incredible momentum, it comes with its share of challenges. Contributors often struggle to find their way around opportunities, maintainers feel overwhelmed balancing projects, community management and visibility, and the whole experience can feel disconnected at times.
That's exactly why we're launching DevCare – to make sure every contributor has the support they need to make an impact.
How the Program is Structured
The DevCare Program is built around the concept of working groups. Here’s how it works:
- Working Groups:
- If you’re part of the DevCare Program, or if you’d like to join, you’ll be connected through a working group. We will reach out to you.
- These groups will be the heart of community engagement and support: providing ongoing spaces for collaboration on projects and peer-to-peer open communication.
- DevCare Specialists and ODBoost:
- Every working group will have a dedicated customer care specialist (e.g., a DevCare specialist) whose role is to connect you with resources, provide how-to guides, and assist you with any challenges you encounter on the OnlyDust platform.
- If you have some problems related to the platform, your working group is the first place to ask for help.
- For ODBoost-related questions, community members can ask in the working group as well. Specific questions will be redirected to Emilie (@blumebee on Telegram), who leads our ODBoost initiatives.
- Career and Community Support:
- Working groups are also spaces for broader questions like how to find a job in Web3, how to improve your CV, or how to write a compelling grant application. These are just examples of questions that you can ask, but they're all united by the idea of how to grow up with the help of OnlyDust contributions beyond the platform.
- Our workshops will directly address these topics and give you practical advice on how to build a career or an entrepreneurial path in Web3.
If You Are Already in a Working Group:Congratulations! Stay connected within your group for updates, announcements, and community collaboration. No further action is needed.
If You Are Registered on OnlyDust But Not Yet in a Working Group:If you want to join the DevCare Program, please reach out to me directly on Telegram at @sonkiski. I will make sure you’re added to the next batch of working groups as they are created.
If You Are Planning to Register on the OnlyDust Platform:You’ll soon see an option to opt-in/opt-out for the DevCare Program during the registration process. This feature is currently being developed and will be available soon, keep an eye out for it!
What’s Ahead for 2025
As we release the DevCare Program, we would like also to share with you what's cooking for the upcoming year:
- Monthly Workshops:
- As already mentioned, we are going to organize workshops at least once a month. These will be very practical, ranging from finding a Web3 job to writing grant applications and building your network using your OnlyDust open-source contributions.
- IRL Events:
- We'll be attending big conferences in Europe and Asia; you will be informed of the places where we are going to be present in the working groups. There we will organize side meetups, networking, etc.
- Showcasing Success Stories:
- Highlighting developer achievements is a key part of the program. Whether it’s through articles, interviews, podcasts, or videos, we want to celebrate both alumni and active contributors who are making an impact in the open-source world.
This is just the beginning. As the program evolves, we’ll introduce even more ways to engage, collaborate, and grow within the OnlyDust ecosystem.
Let’s Build the Future of Open-Source Together
This is just the beginning of our journey. We're committed to creating an ecosystem where developers can innovate, collaborate, and succeed. DevCare is one big step toward that vision, and we're looking forward to see what this journey will bring with you onboard!
Got questions? We'd love to hear from you. Let's make 2025 a year to remember in open source!
