New app: reimagining the contributor experience

Meet our new app - a fresh start for contributors.

You spoke, and we listened! After hearing from many contributors about what would make their experience better, we've rebuilt our platform. The result? A new app that makes it easier than ever to find projects that match your skills, discover available issues, and navigate the contribution process.

We've brought together our marketplace and contributor tools in one easy-to-use space, designed around what matters most to you.

What's new?

A cleaner, faster menu that helps you get where you need to go without getting lost. We've streamlined everything to save you time and make navigation feel natural.

On the left hand side menu bar you'll be able to:

• discover good first issues and projects with recent activity
• browse through all open-source projects on the platform
• look at our next open-source week event
• explore ecosystems and learn more about them.

You'll also have an easier access to your contributor profile and maintainer profile.

Smart Search that actually works - We've upgraded our search bar. Type what you're looking for and find it instantly. You can search for projects or a specific contributor / maintainer.

A Discovery page - We've created a space where you can browse open-source projects that match your interests and skills. It's a great place to find your next contribution opportunity. Over here, you can:

• Look at projects that have good first issues available
• Discover projects depending on the category of your choice
• See projects that are trending, most collaborative or with recent activity.

Project pages that make sense - We've decluttered projects pages and made them more visual so that you can now have a better overview. Feel free to use our filters to sort out projects where newbies are welcome or where strong expertise is required.

On each project page, you will now see:

• An overview of the project
• Visibility on the language most commonly used
• Links to their socials
• Open issues available
• Contributor list and rewards given
• Recommendations of similar projects

Profiles that show off your work - Your contributions deserve to be seen. We've redesigned profiles to better showcase your skills and the impact you've made.

On your public profile, you (and others) will be able to see:

• Your description
• Your most used language
• Which ecosystems you contribute in
• KPIs on the number of projects you contribute to, in progress issues and number of PRs merged
• Your contribution activity
• Projects you've contributed on.

Lastly, we have integrated intercom to the platform! You can now ask our special AI agent - Emy L.Ai anything that you need regarding your contributor journey. Of course, if needed you can ask to speak to someone.
